The actor-singer’s versatility and striking appearance, along with her rich and velvety voice has made her a favourite of audiences. The celebrated artist of the world of musical theatre has already shown her talent in numerous roles, and is also renowned as a pop star.
Although she majored at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in dramatic acting, her career has led her to musical genres. During her practicum in Vígszínház, one of the largest theatres in Budapest, she landed her first leading role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Right after graduating from university, Polyák was invited to play in theatres abroad. She later decided to return to Hungary where she became one of the most in-demand actresses of the musical world.
During her two decades at Madách Theatre she played in world famous musical works, such as Mary Poppins, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and one of the most cardinal roles of the genre, Anna Karenina.
She appeared in popular productions of the Budapest Operetta TheatreRomeo and Juliet and Rebecca, and is playing in five currently running shows of the theatre.
She has played Violet in the József Attila Theatre production of 9 to 5 since 2020, and stepped into the shoes of Elisabeth at the József Katona Theatre of Kecskemét in 2021. She is playing Mrs. Baradlay in the most influential musical production of 2022, The Baron's Sons - The Baradlay-legend at the Erkel Theatre.
In 2016, Lilla was one of the contestants of the 4th season of the popular Hungarian TV show Sztárban Sztár (“Stars Within the Stars.”) Viewers could see her every night for two seasons in the TV series Mintaapák (“Model Dads”) from 2019 onward.
In addition to her musicals, she has put great emphasis on her pop music career, too. Her song “Here and Now” has been a great favourite of radio stations since 2010. In the Hungarian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and 2014, she reached the semi-finals with her songs “I Gotta Fly” and “Rise Again.” Lilla”s newest original single, “Maradj” (“Stay”) dropped during the fall of 2021.
She has also contributed to several albums, including two, released together with her ex-husband, actor Zsolt Homonnay, titled Both of Us (2009) and Two Hearts (2010). Her first solo album was released in 2014, titled Most és Mindörökké (“Ever Ever After.”) She has lent her voice to five audio books.
